Easy Instant Pot Ground Turkey Taco Meat (from frozen)

The one thing the whole family can eat is tacos, in one form or another. My daughter loves a good soft taco, my son likes crunchy and my husband and I enjoy a taco salad with grain-free chips. I made it this week and used the leftovers to make Taco Stuffed Spaghetti Squash which was sooo yummy!
I love to use my Instant Pot for this when I have a frozen portion of ground meat and only a short time until dinner. Then I just add a little broth and my taco seasoning, some salsa and set to cook! It really couldn’t be easier! And in case you haven’t picked up on it yet… I like easy! Also I need to have flavorful and healthy meals but I can’t be in the kitchen allll day. This one is a winner in m book for those reasons.
I like to add the optional salsa to give it a little kick with something spicy or to give it a little more depth of flavor, but it’s not a necessity. Use what you have, right?!
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days.
NOTE that some taco seasonings have flour or cornstarch in them, so check your ingredients if you are following a strict grain-free diet. It is super simple to make your own. You can find my homemade Taco Seasoning here.
¡Buen provecho!
Instant Pot Ground Turkey Taco Meat (from frozen)
Ingredients
- 1 lb frozen lean ground turkey (any other ground meat works; see Note if yours is not frozen)
- 1/2 cup beef broth (use whatever broth you like and have on hand or water)
- 2 tbsp grain-free Taco Seasoning (or one packet if store-bought)
- 1/3 cup salsa (optional)
Instructions
- Pour the broth (or water) into the bottom of your multicooker pot and put the frozen ground turkey in.
- Add the Taco Seasoning {add link} and set to Pressure Cook on manual for 25 minutes, then quick release.
- Set the multi cooker to Saute and break up the meat really well with a sturdy spatula or potato masher (my personal fav).
- Turn on the saute function to let simmer and thicken for a few minutes as most of the liquid evaporates, about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally. Turn the multi cooker off.
- Serve atop your favorite grain-free taco base with all of your favorite taco toppings.
